What you get.
Files never touch Salesforce — not even while uploading. A 2 GB file costs the same as a 10 KB one: nothing.
Every request runs under the signed-in user's identity. SharePoint's own permissions decide what they see — no rules to rebuild.
Find a contract by a phrase buried in it — even text inside scanned images. Something Salesforce file search cannot do.
No sync job. A file added from Teams shows up on the record on the next refresh, because Salesforce reads SharePoint directly.
